Decorating with letters and Numbers in your home!

Hi there. I'm Jenn and I work for Arcadian Lighting, an e-commerce website that specializes in top lighting trends around the world. When I moved into my first apartment I bought this gorgeous lamp and I've been hooked on light fixtures and interior design ever since. My morning begins with a coffee and reading a few great blogs, one of my favorite being Debbiedoos - I feel privileged to be guest writing here today, so thank you Debbie!

The only lettering used in home decor in years past may have been some alphabet borders in a kid's playroom, however today, letters and numbers are a fun way to not only personalize a space but add some playfulness to a room too. Monograms, words, and various digits in bright colours and styles can be a great addition to any space. Throw in some beautiful furniture and a great light fixture or two and decorating with letters and numbers is as easy as A, B, C (or 1, 2, 3).

Stamp of approval

A simple letter stamped onto a throw pillow or other accessory is a straightforward way to bring some personality into a little girl's bedroom.

Oh baby that's cute!

This nursery dripping in pink is extra pretty with a monogram on the wall. The chandelier ceiling light is a fabulous addition to any princess room.

A shabby chic detail

What looks like crayon letters scribed onto a wall becomes a unique "headboard" of sorts in this shabby chic bedroom. The hanging pendant lights are also a smart way to frame the bed.

Count on it

Numbers in different colours on different backings create a unique wall hanging over a singular piece of furniture in a transitional space such as a hallway.

Style from A-Z

What's so whimsical about this lettering display is the way in which all of the letters are different, from the O-shaped button to the curly-Q T.

Spell check

Letters in different shapes and typefaces make for interesting wall art in this tween boy's bedroom. The look is fun when mixed with other framed prints.

City-scapes

This office built for two boasts letters on the walls that, along with the city photos, create a sense of being whisked away to the bustling Big Apple or across the pond to London. The hanging ceiling light is a cool nod to mod as well.

Book some time

This bedroom is full of life and colour, and the bold red letters stating "read" make it an inviting and cozy place to curl up with a great book.

Go Bold

A simple, affordable way to reinvent a space is painting. Imbue your home with fall's popular warm, cozy colors. Whether you want to go bold or stick with neutrals, this season's palette offers something for everyone. Among the trendiest paint colors are soft gold, burnt orange, mocha, creamy beige, asparagus green, earthy browns and tans, and shades of gray, ranging from peppercorn to a pale gray violet. In a neutral room, an accent wall in a bold color can add depth and interest. Some popular choices are creams and beige with a brown or red accent wall.

Accessories for the Walls

Accent pieces, such as throw pillows, candles, art, sheets, comforters, slipcovers, floral centerpieces, and knickknacks, can complement the color of the room and add a fun or sophisticated feel. While neutral furniture has been the standard, don't be afraid to experiment and add a splash of color, as accessories can be easily swapped out with the change of seasons Copper, red, black, chocolate brown, brass, wine, and funky patterns are popular this season. However, shades of orange have been stealing the show. Add some burnt orange pillows or a few pumpkin orange vases to give your home a fall feeling.

Decorate your Windows and Doors

This runner is reversible and has a soft tan colorway on one side with a cream colorway for the reverse. Both have the French script in brown. It's approximately 14" wide by 56" long with brown tassels on the classic tapered ends.
